[DAYS] S02E05: It’s a gift, I can smell lust.

Good news and bad news folks.  First for the bad news.  We have another podcast for you this week.  That’s right Don’t Adjust Your Set Season 2 Episode 5: “It’s a gift, I can smell lust” is now live!  We hope you all enjoy our hardhitting insights into the rough underbelly of the television industry.

Now for the good news…

Sit down.  Wait, if you’re reading this you’re probably already sitting down… stand up. Now sit down.  It’s been a great run but I think… we… we think we need some time apart.  Just a couple weeks we swear.  But seriously, due to traveling and the Seattle Sounders FC in the playoffs, we will be on a brief hiatus from the DAYS “studio.”  Keep an eye on the twitter feed or on the site and we’ll be back, better than ever.

Oh, and to the Sounders… Take ‘em all, watch ‘em fall!

[DAYS] S02E04: I hate to say I told you so, so… Welcome to Miami!

And now we’re back, to let you know… the shows you should be watchin’ on Season 2 Episode 4 of Don’t Adjust Your Set: “I hate to say I told you so, so… Welcome to Miami!”  This week, we introduced a new format due to a heavy fall schedule, which will hopefully lighten the load of shows we need to watch each week and provide you all with a better listening experience since our coverage will be over a few episodes rather than a week to week basis.  This week we review the likes of Chuck, Castle, Community, The Event and Undercovers as well as some others that aren’t part of the pool.  We had a lot of fun this week as always so we hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Feel free to check us out on Twitter either together @dontadjustset or seperately @jconfidence, @KCSunshine317 and @DrChubb. Please leave your thoughts and comments below or on iTunes.

Without further delay… On with the show notes!

TV Shows!

Discussion Questions!

(For the record, my contacts were drying out pretty badly by this point that’s why I had such difficulty reading.)

What show did you give a shot and wound up disappointed by?

Are shows getting the axe too fast?  How can you compete when only given a week or two to establish yourself?

TV Premiering This Week!

DAYS Week of 09/26 recap

With no podcast,  I thought I would call out a few of the key things I learned from TV this week:

Sunday:

  • Amazing Race – someone got clocked in the face with a watermelon (didn’t see it…but heard the following “OH HOLY SH*T exclaimed from the other room)

Monday

  • LoneStar - episode two…turned out to be the series finale.  RIP.
  • Chuck - The return of Jeff and Lester – much to JC’s dismay.
  • HIMYM - Barney’s dad is NOT Bob Barker…or Ben Vereen
  • The Event makes for exhausting to watch TV, but interesting enough for people to stick around for another episode (or at least myself)
  • House and Cuddy – at work – interesting dynamic and good resolution.  Also – House is a fan of Cuddy’s rear.
  • Hawaii 5-O?  Still my new favorite drama show.
  • Michael Bolton receives one of the lowest scores in the history of Dancing with the Stars – Bruno apparently was extremely rude – causing new drama on DWTS.

Tuesday

  • Glee loses Dr. Chubbs – I find Britanny S. Pierce the funniest character on TV for 30 minutes and spend majority of the 30 minutes laughing and snorting at her one liners.  30 minutes after that – am disappointed with the focus going back to Rachel for a silly reason.  Let’s find a storyline and move this show along (reviews for this week are very positive and appear to be meeting my request.)
  • DWTS drama continues as Michael Bolton is booted off the show.  Jennifer Grey takes top points again for the 2nd week in a row.
  • Raising Hope continues to be my new favorite comedy show – much giggling and snorting during this show as well.
  • NCIS & NCIS: LA? Well I didn’t get a chance to watch NCIS, and I don’t watch NCIS: LA…plus it was trivia night…so you are on your own for these.
  • Running Wilde – won me over.  I’ll continue to watch – but their ratings stink, so more eyes must watch!
  • Parenthood - same story…more eyeballs needed on this show.  I caught up on it last night…and 45 minutes seemed to go by in just seconds…still one of the best and most realistic shows on TV.
  • Good Wife premiered – I have the entire first season to watch before I can comment on the second season.  Any reader commentary?

Wednesday (ah…TV’s down night)

  • The Middle - funny…Axl is my favorite…
  • Better with You – Sigh.  I just don’t know that I care about any of the characters in this show to waste the time even watching it.
  • Modern Family – Aw…Cam and Mitchell got to kiss on real grown up TV!  Way to go ABC! Also, kudos to Gloria for torturing Jay.  Loves it.
  • Cougar Town.  I am back to my original assessment of this show – less Courteney Cox, the better this show is.  Also…Travis is only 20 minutes away…he’ll be in the show plenty.
  • The Defenders…officially hooked – but Jerry O’Connell is going to have to step up his game to even be able to keep up with Jim Belushi’s character – he’s funny, he’s sweet and he’s grabbing ALL the attention.  Also, I love their office administrative assistant’s eye makeup.  Just one day I want to wear bright green and yellow eyeshadow.
  • Recorded the Whole Truth - based on ratings – believe this show to be next on the chopping block and deleted without watching again.  Still love you Rob Morrow.

Thursday

  • Community - the lawyers.  Jeff.  Jeff trying to be cooler than the group.  Sometimes I get tired of this storyline.  Then they have scary looking Drew Carey on with a hole in his hand and he drops a meatball through it and I forget all about that storyline bugging me.
  • Big Bang Theory - not going to lie – I want to be a Shelbot one day.
  • 30 Rock – yay Kenneth is back!  Yay Tracey was in the Cash Cab and came up with the best answers ever to the questions (I hate the Cash Cab…but if people answered the questions like Tracey, I might watch more often). Yay Jack is having a boy…whoops…wait a girl – and she needs to do everything opposite of Liz Lemon (looking quite haggard.)
  • Sh*t My Dad Says - officially off my TV viewing list.  Thank you little baby jeebus.
  • Bones, The Office, Outsourced and Fringe - didn’t watch…look for updates in upcoming podcasts.

Friday Friday Friday

  • Good Guys – awesome as always…how many times I gotta tell you to watch this show and why don’t you listen to me?  Does this mean you hate me?  :)
  • Blue Bloods….very close second to my new favorite drama.  Tom Selleck…you are awesome.

Sunday (10/3)

  • I don’t mind admitting this…I am a fan of Ice Road Truckers…and as we said goodbye to the Dalton they headed to India with the craziest effin’ drivers, roads and horns I have ever seen / heard.   One trucker made it through one day and went home.  I would probably be crying if I ever had to drive there.  It’s worth a watch…

Random commentary for the week:

  • Does anyone feel like Chuck needs to step up their game just a little bit?  The most exciting thing should not be the return of Jeff and Lester.
  • The baby that they have for Raising Hope has to be one of the world’s cutest babies EVER.
  • The Event is really truly exhausting to watch.  I get that we are trying to fill in the gaps…but maybe we get down to 45 time jumps instead of 100 a show?
  • Sneaking this one in – Phineas and FerbI heart this show.  Good kids show…good adult show…and who can’t love a platypus name Perry?  All new episodes are showing on Friday nights…repeats daily.
  • Truck drivers should not act like little girls…and I would think that driving on a melting road with a whatever ton oversized load on a road that barely clears two normal sizes trucks – this would be a horrible time to trip balls about the fact that the truck in front of you won’t get out of the way to let you pass and that they stalled you out.   Dear Greg…nice work on getting yourself in trouble by calling the boss and trying to tattle tale on Ray.  You didn’t chain up and you look like the fool.  Yer dumb.  Also…smoking’s bad for you.  Knock it off.  Xoxo KCS.

That’s all she wrote – if you have thoughts or commentary…include it below.  Why not.  It’s more fun than a kick in the knees.  Or being hung over from three glasses of red wine (not that I speak from experience…except that I do.)

kcs is out…PEACE!
